Archived in the category: Travel Ideas

Mexico is a very popular vacation destination for many people whether they are planning on staying for a whole week or simply for the weekend. Mexico offers visitors a lovely change pace and is only a short flight away. If you have decided that Mexico will be the spot for your next vacation getaway there are several ways where you can cut travel costs. In fact if you are smart when planning your trip to Mexico you may be able to take a longer trip because you have saved so much money.

Mexican Beach

The first thing that you need to consider is the date you would like to plan your trip to Mexico. You should know that Christmas and Easter are two extremely popular times for tourists to be visiting Mexico. Hotel owners and other merchants are well aware of this and will always raising their prices during these peak travel times. So if you were working with a small budget you would be well advised to avoid planning a Mexican vacation during this time of year.

By choosing to travel to Mexico during an off peak time of the year you are going to greatly improve your chances of being able to get much more affordable rates. Even if you travel immediately after one of these peak times you would be surprised at the significant reduction in travel prices that you can get. Traveling to Mexico in late spring and early summer are great choices for budget travelers as you will be able to get major discounts and you will also find that a good portion of the main tourist attractions will be less crowded. This can really make for a much more enjoyable vacation.

Save On Travel With Cash Back Credit Cards

Archived in the category: Travel Ideas

It’s been awhile since we posted a travel idea, or tip, here on the site so today I thought I’d talk a bit about the benefits and reasons to start using cash back credit cards. If you’re any kind of frequent traveler, owning and using a credit card that offers cash back is a great way to keep your travel expenses down.

When you purchase plan tickets, book hotel rooms or just use a credit card for your daily travel expenses you can see some of the money you spend come back to you. As long as your credit card has a cash back program, a certain percentage of every dollar you spend will be redistributed back to you.

Since there are a variety of cash back credit cards out there it’s important that you do your research before signing up for one. Make sure you understand the exact terms of the program, how often you receive your cash back and what the exact percentage of that amount it will be. It’s also vital that you figure out if the program has any limits on the amount of money you can get back and if there are any program fees that might offset some of your earnings.

The Best Travel Plans Online

Archived in the category: Travel Ideas

A lot of people have a hard time, when it comes right down to it, making decisions about itinerary and plans for their next vacation. It’s a common occurrence for people to want to take a vacation but be totally unsure of the places they want to visit. Or, as is sometimes the case, potential travelers have a destination in mind but aren’t sure what they can see and do once they arrive. For both types of confused vacationers, a travel plans blog is the perfect research tool.

Travel-Plan-Idea.com is one of the best travel plans blogs around these days. I wanted to take a second today and write a post highlighting two of their better posts. My favorite post is their London to Amsterdam travel plan that goes into great detail about what you can see and do during a 6-day vacation. You’d be surprised to find out just how easy it is to see both London and Amsterdam in such a short period of time.

If you’re interested in the United Kingdom, be sure to check out their recently posted Ireland travel plan as well. This is also a 6-day plan but since it’s entirely devoted to only one location you’re going to get a much better opportunity to thoroughly experience the region.

Hotels In Calgary Alberta

Archived in the category: Travel Ideas

There are a lot of great attraction in Calgary for visitors looking to have a good time in Alberta, Canada. Hotels in Calgary Alberta come in a variety of shapes and sizes (and, naturally, prices as well) so it’s important to make a careful decision when booking your stay in the city.

Some of the best hotels in Calgary are located downtown. The number of tourist spots in downtown Calgary include: the Calgary Zoo, the Telus Convention Centre and World of Science, the Calgary Tower and the Chinatown district. That’s really just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to listing all of the things for tourists to do in Calgary’s downtown area.

The west side of Calgary also has its own share of tourist hot spots and fine hotels. Heritage Park Historical Village is probably one of the most popular destinations on this side of the city. It’s a historians dream with its display of what life was like in Albert before and during the early 1900s. The village is comprised of historical buildings dating from the period as well as historical recreations. In addition to the buildings, there are historical vehicles such as trains, boats and streetcars.

Hostels In Amsterdam

Archived in the category: Travel Ideas, Vacation Ideas

Hostels in Amsterdam offer one of the most unique and exciting travel experiences in the Netherlands. A hostel is essentially a cheap, or discount, hotel with a dorm-like atmosphere. It’s the perfect solution for travelers looking to keep on a budget but still enjoy their vacation. The hostels in Amsterdam are well situated throughout the city so that they are close to popular tourist attractions.

Amsterdam

Amsterdam is well-known for its cultural attractions that are favorites for vacationers and locals alike. There are scores of museums and performing arts centers. In addition to the fine arts, Amsterdam has a wide variety of sports teams; especially for hockey and baseball. The most famous tourist attractions are, without a doubt, the city’s red-light districts. These districts are quite popular even though city officials are actively trying to cut down their numbers.

There are, of course, some downsides to staying in a hostel. What you gain in savings you essentially lose in accommodations and privacy. You’ll just have to decide if that trade-off is worth it to you. The experience of staying in a hostel, especially in a city as wonderful as Amsterdam, might be all the motivation some travelers would need. It makes for quite a travel story when you arrive home.
