Weâ€™re one of the fastest growing cruise lines in the travel industry and weâ€™re in need of a talented and experienced PURCHASING AGENT – BEVERAGE to join our team in
Responsible for performing all purchasing functions including strategic planning; requisition review, bid preparation and evaluation; supplier selection and management, price and terms and conditions of purchase, awarding of orders and the administration of assigned commodities and services relating to Beverages.Â
Â·Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Reviews requisitions for accuracy, questions and resolves inconsistencies.Â Solicits and evaluates bids, selects suppliers and negotiates prices, terms and conditions; authorized to award and administers orders valued up to US $50,000.
Â·Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Identifies adequate and qualified domestic and international sources of supply for assigned commodities; promotesÂ Â vendor development activities to improve overall product quality and service and reduce costs.
Â·Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Adheres to the Environmental Protection Policy of the company.
Â·Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Develops and executes strategic procurement plan for all assigned items.
Â·Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Analyzes and evaluates competitive proposals and recommends vendor selection and award for purchases in excess of authorized limits; further, proposes any special contractual terms and conditions relative to purchase.
Â·Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Participates in the development of departmental procedures and practices; helps to establish provisioning plans and schedules; and, maintains the integrity of the PeopleSoft purchasing system.
Â·Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Keeps abreast of market conditions and prices for assigned commodities; advises Purchasing Management and client department management of significant developments and propose course of action to be taken.
Â·Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Establishes bid evaluation teams, chairs pre-award meetings and coordinates the evaluation process with the relevant departments having input to the procurement decision.Â Provides guidance to team members to ensure that all aspects of a proposal are given proper consideration.
Â·Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Administers purchase orders and contracts on a timely basis and ensures that all contractual requirements are met by both the vendor and NCL and that the contracted prices and expiration dates are accurately reflected in the Quote files in the Financial System.
Â·Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Develops and maintains a working knowledge of international, federal, state and local laws and regulations affecting the procurement of assigned commodities.
Â·Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Maintains accurate, adequate and current records to support action taken on procurement projects as well as to satisfy internal and external auditing requirements.
Â·Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Reviews the open requisitions and take appropriate action to ensure that approved items are ordered on a timely basis.
Â·Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Reviews the Open Purchase Orders and Open Requisition Line Reports and takes appropriate action to maintain the integrity of the data.
Â·Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Performs other related duties as assigned or required.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
Â·Â Â Â Â Â Â Â B.S. Degree in Business or Hotel/Restaurant Administration, CPM designation or equivalent related work experience.
Â·Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Three to five years in the food service, hospitality, travel service, or transportation industries with emphasis in procurement or contract administration.
Â·Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Must have good working knowledge of and experience in purchasing techniques and practices, contract and commercial law; must be skilled in vendor assessment and development; contract bid evaluation, value analysis, and negotiation.Â
Â·Â Â Â Â Â Â Â The incumbent should possess a basic understanding of economic indicators, price indices, market trends and statistical analysis.
Â·Â Â Â Â Â Â Â It is essential that the incumbent be able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing at all levels.Â
Â·Â Â Â Â Â Â Â The incumbent must also possess a good understanding of human behavior and those factors which influence or cause behavioral change; and, must have demonstrated the ability to employ the proper leadership style to a variety of situations and be skilled in conflict resolution and facilitation of team action in a dynamic environment.
